Accounting Operations

Note: Competency in the use of computers is a requirement for all degree seeking students at Central Florida Community College. One option to satisfy this requirement is satisfactory completion of a high school computer course.

  • Keyboarding and Computer Skills (8200320)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit course

    This course provides basic overview of business and information systems. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency with touch keyboarding and word processing applications.

  • Computer and Business Skills (8200330)
    Grades 9-12; 1/2 credit course; Prerequisite: Keyboarding and Computer Skills

    This course introduces students to the basic skills and foundations required for today's business environments. The course provides instruction in fundamental computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation applications.

  • Introduction to Information Technology (8207310)
    Grades 9-12; Equivalent to BOTH Keyboarding and Computer Skills AND Computer and Business Skills

    This course provides an introduction to information technology concepts and careers. The content includes keyboarding, operating systems, software applications, and electronic communications. This course starts with developing keyboarding skills then progresses to word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Basic HTML and Web design may also be covered.

  • Accounting Applications I (8203310)
    Grades 10-12; Prerequisite: Introduction to Information Technology, or Keyboarding and Computer Skills AND Computer and Business Skills; teacher recommendation

    Students will record, analyze, and interpret business financial information either by completing workbook activities or using automated accounting software. Accounting activities start with proprietorships organized as service businesses and progresses to corporations organized as merchandising businesses and conclude with partnerships.

  • Accounting Applications II (8203320)
    Grades 10-12;
    Prerequisites: Introduction to Information Technology, or Keyboarding and Computer Skills AND Computer and Business Skills; Accounting Applications 1; Teacher recommendation

    This course expands on topics introduced in Accounting I while adding new topics about management accounting, cost accounting, not-for-profit accounting, and financial analysis.

  • Accounting Applications III (8203330)
    Grades 10-12; Prerequisite: Introduction to Information Technology, or Keyboarding and Computer Skills AND Computer and Business Skills; Accounting Applications 1 & 2; Teacher recommendation

    This course expands on topics introduced in Accounting II while adding new topics about management accounting, cost accounting, not-for-profit accounting, and financial analysis.
