FBLA News Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a premier organization for young people who have an interest in professional or technological careers. We are proud to announce that Forest High School, though we have many sharp students, also has not only the Florida’s District 7’s President, but also a State Vice-President as well. Andrew Smith was announced as District 7’s President at FBLA’s award ceremony in May. Amber Thompkins, after a rigorous application process, was announced as one of Florida FBLA’s Vice Presidents. We have a lot to be proud of at Forest High School and students like Andrew and Amber remind us that our students are the best.
In July, five Latin students, along with Mrs. Renick, their sponsor, attended National Competition at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Our two state officers, Danielle Cohen-Shohet (recording secretary) and Leah Cohen-Shohet (historian) did a fine job of running our state assembly. Forest took several places in the competition. Robby Kuhn placed third with his small model of a catapult and placed eighth in Dramatic Interpretation. Maurice Boetger placed fourth in Hellenic History, sixth in Latin Derivatives, and ninth in Greek Derivatives. Tony Daly-Crews placed fifth in Dramatic Interpretation and eighth in Latin Oratory. Danielle Cohen-Shohet placed tenth with her acrylic/oil painting. Congratulations to these very special students who took a week out of their summer to represent Forest. JCL is gearing up for another year of competition, enthusiasm, and fun. Membership is now being accepted for students currently and previously enrolled in Latin.
The band boosters will have a concession open at the south end zone during home football games. The menu will be well worth the walk! The Forest cheerleaders participated in summer camp held at Westport High School. The Forest JV cheerleaders won 1st place in the cheer and dance competition and placed 3rd in the cheer competition. Trophies are in the school lobby. Go Wildcats!
