Testing News

The FCAT math and science retakes will be administered to designated 11th and 12th graders September 2-3.

The PSAT will be given at FHS on September 17 to 10th and 11th graders. All 10th graders are automatically signed up for the test. 11th graders must sign up for the test in the guidance office and there is a $15.00 fee. The deadline for signing up is September 12. The PSAT is a good practice test for the SAT and it is a qualifying test for National Merit Scholarships. There are three sections on the test--reading, math and writing. For further information about the PSAT, log on to The Princeton Review.

Guidance News

In order to best manage our population growth, the guidance counselors have redistributed their student caseloads as follows:

  • Kathryn Warren (9th grade),
  • Mary Beth Kerkela (10th grade),
  • Freeston Smith (11th grade),
  • Teri Strynkowski (12th grade),
  • Elaine Cox (EMIT, ESOL, and department chair).

Parent/teacher conferences can be arranged by calling the guidance office at 671-4715.

The Careers and Colleges Expo 2007 will be held this year on September 20th at the Ewers Center at Central Florida Community College from 5:30-8:00 P.M. All students and parents are encouraged to attend this free event. Much valuable information can be learned from discussions with college and career representatives that evening.

Parents of seniors
It is imperative that you stay informed about your senior’s status with regard to graduation. Be on the lookout for Ms. Strynkowski’s Senior Parent Information letter.
