FBLA News

Forest High School recently hosted District 7 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition at CFCC. The event had a few bumps, but the students shined through with stellar leadership and organizational capabilities. FBLA District competition has over 30 events ranging from Accounting to Word Processing. FHS excelled! We had 22 competitors and every single competitor medaled in their events!! Unfortunately, not every medal winner qualifies to go on to State competition. We did have fifteen students qualify, though! We are so proud of our FBLA students. Go Wildcats!

Cadet Chronicles

Well, another month has gone by, wow, how time flies when you’re having fun. During our first semester the Corp worked extremely hard in order to prepare for the Head Quarter’s inspection which occurred on February 5th. This inspection occurs every three years and is very intense. Cadets give briefings and instructors are evaluated in the classroom. The inspection also looks at how the unit is organized to ensure everything is operating smoothly and effectively. Needless to say it was stressful, but well worth the overall rating of “Exceeds Standards” in all areas of responsibility. A huge “Thanks” goes out to all the cadets for working together as a team, it couldn’t have been done without everyone’s hard work.

It’s almost March again and that means the annual March of Dimes fundraiser is currently going on in ROTC. We have a goal of $2000.00 to reach, so be sure to bring in spare change or money and participate in the many activities we have to raise funds for this important project!

We just recently completed one of our many school beautification projects. If you haven’t taken a look at our school Flag Staff lately, be sure and make a special trip out or take a look from the Media Center. It is fabulous and we would like to thank Carlos Ramirez from Custom Ram Design, Inc. for his hard work and dedication in making this project happen. He painted the Air Force wings and our Core Values on the cement and the cadets planted bushes and installed mulch around the perimeter.

We are also in the process of planning our Flight Challenge to the Grassy Pond Military recreation facility in Lake Park, Georgia. We have it scheduled for 28 March. All cadets are encouraged to attend this fun and exciting day.

Congratulations to the following cadets and their recent achievements:

FL-931st Academic Team- 5th in the Nation during recent competition.
FL-931st Head Quarters Inspection – Exceeds Standards in all areas.
Cadet Richard Thomas – Selected to Boys State
Cadet Daniel Guerra – Received appointment to US Naval Academy
Cadet Diana Bennett – Received appointment to AF Academy

This concludes another edition of the Cadet Chronicles and we are looking forward to another successful month. “HOOHA!!!”
