FCAT News

FCAT testing is scheduled for March 11th and 12th. The tests will cover the 9th Grade Reading and Math FCAT, the 10th Grade Reading and Math FCAT and the 11th Grade Science FCAT. 11th and 12th Grade Reading and Math FCAT retakes are scheduled for March 12th and 13th. Please check our school website for a complete listing of the FCAT schedule. It is important that your child attend school on these days as this test has a direct impact on their graduation.

Dual Enrollment

The organizational meeting for summer or fall Dual Enrollment will be held on March 5, 2008 at 9:00 in the auditorium. Eligible rising seniors will be invited to the meeting and the process will be explained. To be eligible for Dual Enrollment at CFCC a student must have a 3.0 unweighted grade point average and have a qualifying score on ACT, SAT or CPT. The minimum age for Dual Enrollment is 16, but the majority of all Dual Enrollment students are seniors. Students enrolled in lower grade levels typically do not have enough time in their schedules for make room for Dual Enrollment. In addition, students must provide their own transportation to and from CFCC. For students who do not already have a qualifying score on an ACT or SAT there will be a CPT given at Forest on March 6th and 7th. The CPT costs $10 and students must sign up in the guidance office prior to the test date. Deadlines are extremely critical for participation in Dual Enrollment. March 5th is the organizational meeting for summer and fall terms.

For Summer Dual Enrollment: March 24th the application, test scores and transcript are due to CFCC. April 3rd is the Mandatory meeting with counselors to fill out the blue form. April 17th is registration at CFCC for summer Dual Enrollment. June 24th Summer B classes start at CFCC.

For Fall Dual Enrollment: May 19th the application, test scores and transcript are due to CFCC. June is the mandatory meeting with counselors to fill out the blue form. July 9th is registration at CFCC and August 18th Fall classes start at CFCC.

Scheduling for 2008-2009 school year

On March 24th class meetings will be held with administration and guidance to distribute and explain the schedule request sheets and process for the 2008-2009 school year. March 25th and 26th will be Recommendation Days for students to get teacher recommendations for their classes. The schedule request forms will be due on March 27th to their homeroom teacher.

Counselors will begin immediately after Spring Break meeting with all students individually about their schedule requests. During these conferences, the counselor will review the grade history, test scores, teacher recommendations and schedule requests in order to finalize the student’s schedule. This process will last for the remainder of the school year. Parents are welcome to call and give input.
